As feared, India’s World Cup semi-final clash against New Zealand at Old Trafford stadium was interrupted by rain in Manchester on Tuesday and the match has spilled on to Wednesday, the reserve day kept for the tie. The match will pick up from where it was left off on Tuesday. New Zealand were 211/5 with just 23 balls left to bat when rain halted play.
While fans, waiting for the match to resume, made a splash with memes and vented their ire at the DRS METHOD, what they are most interested in knowing is whether the match will be completed today. So here's the weather forecast for today:
Latest update: There is some good news from Manchester as the morning has been cloudy but without any sign of rain so far. It is likely to remain dry for the next few hours and the match is likely to resume on time at 10.30am (local time) or 3pm (IST).
The weather forecast for the entire Wednesday, however, does not look as promising. There is prediction of clouds and some rain, with chances of showers hovering around 20 per cent at the moment. To give you some context, the chance of rain on Tuesday was around 40 to 50 per cent. "Skies will often be cloudy through Wednesday, with further heavy showers at times. Some brighter interludes are possible between the showers though," the forecast says.
